I thought it would be fun to post some rejected sketches from a bunch of different book jackets that I've illustrated. These were the ideas that didn't make it...
Have no idea why these were rejected except that perhaps your other workups worked better for the story. Your work is so strong. I was wondering if you did the cover for this version listed at Amazon for The Midnight Chapter? http://www.amazon.com/Midnight-Charter-David-Whitley/dp/1596433817/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267558503&sr=1-6
I know that the first two are from the Red Pyramid while the last two are from the Ring of Fire. But what is the middle one? It seemed like Artemis for me, not who is that guy? So I don't think it is for The Titan's Curse. Anyways, I do prefer the final drawings, and from the rejected Titan's Curse sketches from your way earlier blog post, I prefer the final one too!
John Rocco is the creator of several books for children including the Caldecott Honor book, Blackout. He is also the illustrator for Rick Riordan's Bestselling series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles and Heroes of Olympus.
